CMO & CFO Magic

Small businesses and solopreneurs know this so well. They know that it is essential to streamline business planning, product line, marketing and communication with financial goals and execution. When you wear most, if not all of the hats you see the synchronicity between areas of expertise that most of the time are executed by teams that are not necessarily speaking the same language.

We all know about the right and the left side of our brains, the yin and the yang, the light and the dark complementing each other and whose existing contrast builds the world. We could frame the roles of CMO and CFO similarly. Working with essentially no overlapping skills, but using the same values and working towards the same goals for a business, it has potential for magic.

In bigger organizations where you have teams working in perpetuity in their insular spaces, with internal goals, and permanent expenses, it might not serve the company to keep the structure of parallel play. Imagine that the CMO and the CFO were a unit who managed the tasks and goals of their teams as one. That they are not permanent positions but hired to implement the necessary systems and train the team to run on its own. Trimming the fat to be coarse.

One of the reasons that we love working with companies just on the brink of a big growth spurt is that we can work in an agile and efficient way, setting up the structure to keep the same spirit through and past the growth part. We don’t see any reason for outdated and stagnant structures that don’t provide efficiency or a dynamic, creative work environment. What we do love are streamlined elegant tech stacks that free up time for creative work. And a product line that brings in a cash flow that allows for experimentation. And an integrated marketing and PR strategy that places your company effortlessly in an Eco System of collaboration. You get the picture.

We see these patterns everywhere, where opposite perspectives create a whole that is much stronger than the individual parts. Like magnets. And like magnets, or any of the forces of nature in our universe, there is no stagnation, there is always a flow.
